Battle would have been sick if not for all the routines. . . 9/10 they kill the flow of the entire battle

@YoonKRNpride 7:26 is why I don’t like most routines. . . Even the dude from Rivers caught them counting steps and being off beat and out of sync with a cookie cutter top rock. Just doesn’t move me. When I see ill routines I give props, but even those kill the flow of a battle because more often than not the other crews feels the urge to respond with a poor routine.
Anyway, I’ve been around since 97′, how about yourself?
@IamtheSamis yeah your a bit young to really know about how dope routines can be.. routines are a sign of creativity. Because you have so much time to make them, thats where the creativity comes in.. And everyone messes up sometimes no ones perfect so you cant expect routines to be always on tact. You need them in big battles..
@YoonKRNpride I think you misunderstood me. I started dancing around 97′. I don’t dance with a crew any longer, but I follow bboying until this day.
I’ve been around long enough to see commandos develop from really unique 2 man sets (e.g. Bebe & Boo Rock GZC) to full out crew routines that Style Elements used to do at their peek. I don’t dislike routines, but I do dislike weak routines and their are a lot of crews doing weak routines lately. Sloppy, off beat, and out of sync
@YoonKRNpride And I would agree that no one is perfect, but if you’re going to do a routine you should be on point. The scene is missing that freshness that it once had when the dance was more geared toward looking fresh. The moves are a lot harder hence there are bound to be more crashes, but people don’t even sweat crashes anymore if the move was hard. That is killing the culture, so are weak routines. Bboys are supposed to be smooth, fresh, sharp like Kenny. No half steppin at this level imo
